Subliminal

Exhibition Design

An exhibition centered around the theme of "Design in Society," showcasing impactful designs and exploring their profound influence on shaping our world.

In our group project, "Subliminal," we aim to explore the intricate ways in which designs contribute to society and provoke thought. Our goal is to prompt viewers to critically examine the true intentions and meanings behind designs and media, encouraging questioning and curiosity.

As the group leader, I oversee all aspects of the project, from branding and marketing to exhibition design and finance. Once the groundwork is laid, I focus on crafting an immersive exhibition experience that invites viewers to rediscover impactful designs with fresh perspectives.

Aside from putting up the designs, we also put hidden messages at the right lower corner of the piece that can only be revealed using the black lights we provided throughout the exhibition.

We have clear acrylic statement for each section of the exhibition as a way to say those are clearly there but also hidden just like how they are in the society

We put objects of what people usually carry with them when they migrate into the US to remind people of how ordinary these items are. Immigrants do not always carry dangerous weapons.

This is an altered version of the voting booth with three slots to drop the ballots in: White Male, White Female, and Other. Only if someone drop the ballots into the White Male slot, the ballots will be collected. If the ballots are dropped into the other two slots, it will be consider trash that will fall down to the floor.

When viewed from two side, the booth will show the name of the president Reagan and D. Trump along with their same slogan "Make America Great Again." Under the black light, the Reagan side will reveal "by reviving the economy," and the D. Trump side will reveal "by banning immigrants"
